Opened for play in 2006, Doña Julia is a par-72, 6, 205 metre course extending over 559.700 square metres. If one feature were to be highlighted it would have to be the size of the greens: an average 900 square metres each and a total surface area of approximately 18.000 square metres.
With 11 of the holes (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 8, 12, 13, 14, 15) elevated and featuring the sea as a backdrop- looking out over the Straits of Gibraltar and, on a clear day, Ceuta- the course is both picturesque and, at least to the senses, expansive.
It comprises two very distinctive layouts. The first nine holes are fairly flat, with lakes and abundant trees offering the main challenge. The second nine are more difficult: the existing vegetation has been preserved, and the holes are longer and surrounded by lakes and streams. The irrigation system comprises double tubing: recycled water for the fairways and water from general supplies used on the greens.
The entire course is seeded with Bermuda 419, and the fairways have an average width of 80 metres.
How to get there: On the N-340 highway, travelling from Estepona in the dirección of Cádiz, take the first turn-off after the Casares road.
Address/ Dirección: Carretera A-7, Km. 146. 29690- Casares. Málaga.
